Embedded spiral The corrosion resistance advantage mechanism of stainless steel in hardware steel

Embedded spiral Among hardware steels, the reason why stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance is mainly due to its unique composition and microstructure.
From the perspective of composition, stainless steel contains a large amount of chromium. Generally speaking, the chromium content should be at least 10.5%. Chromium can form a dense and stable chromium oxide film on the surface of stainless steel, which is the key to the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. It is like a natural barrier that isolates the steel from the external corrosive medium. In an oxidizing environment, this oxide film will self-repair. Even if the film is damaged by mechanical wear or other reasons, the chromium element will quickly combine with oxygen to re-form a protective film to prevent oxygen and moisture from further eroding the interior of the steel.
In addition, some stainless steels also contain other alloying elements such as nickel and molybdenum. Nickel can improve the toughness and corrosion resistance of stainless steel, especially in a reducing acidic environment. It helps to stabilize the austenite structure, allowing stainless steel to perform better under a variety of corrosion conditions. Molybdenum further enhances the resistance of stainless steel to certain specific corrosive media (such as chloride ion solutions). In the presence of chloride ions, molybdenum can inhibit the formation of pitting corrosion because it changes the electrochemical properties of the stainless steel surface, making pitting corrosion difficult to occur.
From a microscopic perspective, the crystal structure of stainless steel also affects corrosion resistance. For example, austenitic stainless steel has a face-centered cubic lattice structure, which allows alloy elements to be evenly distributed in it, which is conducive to the formation of a stable corrosion-resistant phase. Moreover, during processing and use, the microstructure of stainless steel can remain relatively stable, and problems such as intergranular corrosion will not easily occur due to external factors.
For embedded spiral hardware steel, this corrosion resistance advantage enables it to be used for a long time in harsh environments such as humidity and the presence of chemical substances, ensuring the stability and reliability of the hardware structure, extending its service life, and reducing the cost of repair and replacement due to corrosion.
